About Us

MARTIN FAMILY site. Come with us on a short journey through time, as we trace the roots of the more than 1000 direct descendants of our forefathers JOHN (AH-CHOW) MARTIN and his wife MARGARET AUGUSTUS (nee MCCADDIN).

We hope that you will have as much fun visiting with us as some of us have had in the chronicling of our past history which we hope will give some insight into our origin, our past events which have brought us together, as well as information about those Upcoming events which we trust will preserve and foster the continuing enrichment of our family Unity.

Family Patriarch

John (Ah-Chow) Martin was born John Ah-Chow in the Canton district of China and emigrated to Trinidad circa 1850. He settled in Chacon Street San Fernando, prior to a later move to the 'Bentik' area, now known as Vistabella.

Mission Statement

THE MAKING OF A MISSION STATEMENT

STEP NO. 1. START WITH THE END IN SIGHT...
April 12, 1994, at 3.00 p.m. 14 members of the 1992 Reunion Committee commandeered the Dining Room of the Valley View Hotel in St. Anns, intent on making the next giant step towards the formation of a Martin Foundation, as envisioned when the Family Reunion was first conceived 2 years ago.

Family Crest

On August 31, 1999, the 4th anniversary of our first Family Reunion was celebrated at the home of Professor Max and Jean Richards (4th generation), on the campus of the University of the West Indies, Trinidad. To mark this auspicious occasion, John Martin (4th generation), officially 'unveiled' the Family Crest to the members and friends of the Martin Family Clan on behalf of its designer Lawrence Walrond (5th).
